We cannot know 100% why JR made this price hikes but one thing is for sure. The fact that the Japanese yen is "weak" against other currencies and that the influx of truism is getting to pre-pandemic levels tell us that JR and other train companies saw the opportunity to increase the prices with little to no repercussion might be one of them. I agree that they should have made a road map of price increases because seeing a 60% price increase from one day to the other is not the best PR move ever. Normal tourists might still buy the pass regardless, since foreign currencies are stronger at the moment but only time would tell. Do you think individual bullet train ticket would also increase in price in the future?
Really appreciate that you are doing current updates like this! It makes us aware of not only changes with the JR passes but you keep us updated about new places we can visit. Thanks! And Kengo San we know that you are always are helping us so no worries! Also, we appreciate that you are fair minded and do not comment about something that you don’t know the facts about. Yes, many times we judge before knowing the whole story. But again, we are thankful that you are thinking about the traveler and how to make things easier and more enjoyable. 本当にありがたいです。 Oh… and it was great to see Kenny!
Thank you for sharing another informative video, with a lot of news updates. I appreciate all of your work. Although the JR Pass price increase is a pretty large increase, I'm not upset about it. I'll use JR's price calculator before considering buying the pass, and make my decision then. I like the convenience the JR Pass offers. I will also make use of the Suica card in my Apple Wallet, or the Welcome Suica. It is great to have alternatives. Either way, visiting Japan for the first time is going to be fantastic!
Thanks for the updates
Is there a JR Pass covering from Tokyo to Hakkodate Station aside from JR Pass National?
NO PROBLEM IF WE WILL PURCHASE JR PASS ON THE 20TH OF SEPTEMBER THEN WE WILL BE USING IT OF THE 7TH OF DDECEMBER?
Thanks for the updates 🙂
