Costa Maya, Mexico | Aviarius (Bird Aviary) – 4K Port Shore Excursion Walking Tour

Welcome back to paradise! We’re in Costa Maya, Mexico (Puerto Costa Maya) again, and while exploring the faux Mayan Village that makes up port, we came across a fun little gem called Aviarius. This is a bird sanctuary that lets you trek high above the rest of Costa Maya on a myriad of rope bridges.

Costing $14 for adults and $12 for kids, it’s an inexpensive shore excursion / tour option that doesn’t require you to leave port. Aviarius itself is made up of a number of different bird sanctuaries that contain everything from owls, to macaws, to tiny parakeets. They’re all colorful and active (save the nocturnal owls), and the walk around Costa Maya offers some nice views of the port, coast, and the dolphin encounters.

You can usually book a shore excursion for this attraction while on board whatever ship you’re making port on, but you will likely overpay. If you do so though, most offer food and drink, so gauge what works best for you.
