Scenes from our first dinner (of 2) at Fufu Kawaguchiko (ふふ 河口湖), which is located in the Fuji Five Lakes area in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi (山梨県富士河口湖.) The explanations of the dishes were in Japanese, so I’ve done my best to localize the food descriptions to English (to the best of my ability.) They are:

DISH 1:
Kabu No Wakibiyaki (かぶの薪火焼き – Japanese Turnip)
Tomato & Cheese Ankake with Daikon Oroshi (トマトとチーズ餡かけと大根おろし)

DISH 2:
Kinoko No Kikka Shitate (木の子菊花仕立て – Fungus and Chrysanthemum) with Kani Shinjo (蟹真丈 – Crab Paste Ball)

DISH 3:
* Kani Yuba Miso Zuke (ガニ湯葉味噌漬け – Crab with Miso & Yuba Sauce)
* Tamaji Mushi (玉地蒸し)
* Kamo Roast (鴨ロース – Duck Roast)
* Ohitashi with Age Surume (お浸しと揚げ鯣 – Cold Spinach with Shredded Squid)
* Ebi Kakiage with Mukago & Ginnan (海老かき揚げと零余子&ぎんなん – Fried Crab with Japanese Yam Shoots & Gingko Nuts)

DISH 4:
* Katsuo (鰹 – Bonito)
* Tai (鯛 – Sea Bream) Nigiri Sushi (握り寿司)

DISH 5:
* Fuji Sakura Pork Tsutsumi Yaki (富士桜ポークの包み焼き)
* Kinmedai (金目鯛 – Splendid Alfonso) Tsutsumi Yaki (包み焼き)

DISH 6:
Ichijiku with Daikon Oroshi & Nashi (無花果と大根おろし&梨 – Fig with Grated Daikon & Pear)

DISH 7:
* For him: Yamanashi Gyu No Kunsei Roast Beef (山梨牛の燻製ローストビーフ – Smoked Roast Beef From Yamanashi)
* For her: Awabi Steak (鮑 – Abalone)
+ Kabocha (かぼちゃ) with Honey Butter (はちみつバター)

DISH 8:
* Donabe Gohan with Fujinosuke
Note: Fujinosuke (富士の介) is a cross-breed between King Salmon & Rainbow Trout (虹鱒 – Nijimasu)-bred species
* Misoshiru (味噌汁 – Miso Soup) & Tsukemono (漬物)

DISH 9 (Dessert – Mizugashi):
Hojicha Ice Cream with Warabi Mochi & Kyoho (ほうじ茶アイスとわらび餅&巨峰葡萄)
