We stayed at a hot spring inn (onsen ryokan) that can only be reached by boat⛴ There are only inns on the island, and all rooms have ocean views. It’s a special place!! It is a secret hideaway, so you can spend your time in a very quiet and elegant way. The communal open-air bath has been ranked as the most beautiful open-air bath in Japan. The guest room also has an open-air bath, and I was able to enjoy it with my husband, which was a really wonderful time💞 I highly recommend this ryokan!🥺✨

    🐰The view from the open-air bath is spectacular!!
    🐰The food was really delicious. Tuna sashimi were especially good.
    🐰The lounge serves free beer from 3pm to 6pm and plum wine from 7pm to 10pm. We missed!😂
    🐰I wonder how much it would cost to book the entire island? There was no mention on the official website, but I'm too afraid to ask.

    I've been to Katsuura in 2020 but I had no idea this ryokan exists…well, that's fine, it's not like I could afford it anyway lol. The onsen looks great. I would say a good budget version of it would be Saki no yu in nearby Shirahama. The train ride around the coast is very beautiful too!

    Not to make wild assumptions on a video, but that looks like the same town that hunted dolphins for food, which was illegal. I hope I'm wrong. Our science teacher made us watch a documentary on it repeatedly, so I have a clear memory of it. Even about there being a cove, like at the one in 8:50. Very familiar.

    Quite a few people here are assuming that someone is keeping dolphins in small open pens. I think that's a dumb, ridiculous idea (what's preventing the dolphins from simply jumping away, you geniuses?) and it is most likely a case of local fish farmers having to deal with an uninvited guest raiding the storage pens.
