Ginzan Onsen is said to be one of Japan’s most beautiful onsen and the pictures posted on social media are certainly proof it might be. Why might? Well, as with everything places do not always look picture perfect and I often feel they might have been a little “touched up”. I also sometimes wonder if the hype is really worth it…
However, I really felt this could be the real deal, so visiting Ginzan Onsen in Yamagata Prefecture has been on my travel list for a while. So join me as I finally made it!
I traveled to Yamagata in December in hopes for a winter wonderland, snow-covered ryokans and lanterns over an icy river, as this seemed to be the most beautiful season to be here. Spoiler alert; it did not quite work out, but that is the joy of travel, you just don’t always get what you want. Nevertheless, the charm of Ginzan onsen even in the pouring rain did win me over, so join me and get an idea what it really is like.

I vary nice Place to spend the day and your lunch looked very yummy I have not tasted egg plant or that spice it made we want to try it, shame about the foot spar I just bet it is relaxing, thank you for sharing.

Man how much I love northern Japan.. there is a particular atmosphere here that you don't find in other places on the entire island, howeverJapan is incredible everywhere.
Japan endless tourist attraction. People and food makes a big difference. Please Japan open the border.
