Sagano Romantic Train A sightseeing train running along the Hozu River 7.3 km from Saga to Kameoka via Arashiyama.Sagano Scenic Railway or Torokko Sagano is a touristic train ride along the gorge of the Hozu River, in the north-west of Kyoto. Inaugurated in 1991, the train rides on a part of the once abandoned Sagano JR Line, between Saga-Arashiyama and Kameoka stations. This very popular spot is also called “Romantic Train” and “Panoramic Railway”.

Take in the expansive views of the Hozukyo Gorge
This scenic, 25-minute railway route runs 7.3 kilometers from Arashiyama in Kyoto to Kameoka on the outskirts of the city. Whether it’s cherry blossoms, verdant greenery, or stunning autumn leaves, the route offers glorious views in every season. Passengers can also take in the beautiful, natural panoramas of the Hozukyo Gorge. For visitors who want to enjoy both the train ride and a boat ride, there is also an option that combines the Sagano Romantic Train with the Hozu River Boat Ride, which takes you 16 kilometers down the river in about two hours.
