Kamome is the Japanese word for “Seagull”, a symbol that is etched on the exterior of all trains from Kyushu Shinkansen line. This is one of the latest, newest lines of the Shinkansen or Bullet train.
The new train is in the next generation N700S series, and should accommodate around 396 passengers, unlike the traditional Shinkansen which has 16 cars typically the new Kamome line will only have 6 cars. For the people of Nagasaki, this is more than a dream come true for the people of Nagasaki.
The commute with this new train from Nagasaki to Hakata should take around approx ETA: 2 hours.
From Takeo-Onsen to Nagasaki will take around ETA: 30 minutes.
GOOD NEWS! Tickets will be sold as “Hakata-bound” or “Nagasaki-bound” so that passengers can buy just one train ticket to travel on both shinkansen and limited express services on this route. This current arrangement is temporary however, as eventually the plan is to expand the shinkansen route all the way between Takeo Onsen and Hakata.
Ticket prices: A one-way ticket from Hakata to Nagasaki using this new train system will go for 5,520 yen, for a non-reserved seat.
