Marking a big anniversary for Tokyo Food File (initially known as The Food File), making its first appearance in the pages of the indomitable then-100-year-old Japan Times.
Besides my take on the now long-forgotten Hong Kong Garden, the JT Food Page for April 9, 1998 also featured the ever-essential Nihonshu column by John Gauntner.
A collectors’ classic indeed.
A tad faded and yellowing at the edges, but still hungry, still “bubbling attitude and adjectives,” still documenting the way we live and eat here in the “Foodiest City on the Planet”…
