The mad scientists of art collective teamLab, led by creative genius Toshiyuki Inoko, are back in Tokyo … in a BIG way. This summer, teamLab and Mori Building will open the doors of the “world’s first digital museum.” Covering a 10,000 sq. meter space in the Odaiba area, the large-scale event of 40 artworks is powered by big tech: 520 computers and 470 projectors. That equals room after room of immersive art installations that not only interact with the viewer but also each other. Although the venue is still under construction, the media got a special preview of “teamLab Borderless,” which opens on June 21. In a first for teamLab, the tech wizards allowed us a quick peek behind the curtain. And even though it’s still incomplete, it is already amazing. (Mark Thompson @guchagucha photos).
