What’s going on at Singapore Airlines? Are they going down? The famous Asian airline offers two business classes on the Airbus A350 – one for longhaul and a regional one for medium and shorthaul flights. Compared to many airlines, also their regional business class is pretty fantastic, with great, wide seats and lots of space. However, they use it also on flight of up to 9 hours (not exactly regional). What was really a great experience on my short flight from Bangkok to Singapore, was by far not enough for a flight of seven hours from Singapore to Dubai, the home of Emirates, where understatement is not a known word in business class. Singapore Airlines catering was subpar and the staff seemed to be not apparent for quite a big part of the flight.
But see yourself, let’s go from Singapore to Dubai!

  1. Firstly: the A380 service has spoiled us. There will never be another business class or first class that compares to the service we got on the A380–800. Singapore airlines, Asiana Airlines and Emirates/Etihad all know that.

The A350 – ULR solves economical problems for these major Asian airlines because it allows them to essentially run nonstop flights from America to Singapore, America to Philippines, America to French Polynesia.…

The A350-ULR also allows those nonstop flights to land on smaller air fields that the A380 is too large to land on. This includes the Maldives, Seychelles, French Polynesia, etc.

My problem with the A350 is that it is noisy and it is smaller than the A380. However I’ll take it over the Boeing jets because they are very cramped and not as nice.

  2. I ordered a cheeseboard when I was on my Emirates flight to Maldives in business class. I will never order the cheeseboard again. At first it tasted good but I think they give you too much cheese. I think it would be better if they gave you smaller servings and maybe more fruit.

  3. Ha ha so agree with you about artificial flowers. And also the food does look bland but was disappointing they don’t serve Blue Nun ha ha. Covid has given airlines excuses but please bring back menus and magazines and more personal contact from staff. A very special trip for you both. Oh and just wondering your impression of the A350 vs A380 for noise etc as Qantas has just ordered the A350’s for the future and I do love the A380. Now will take a look at your other videos. Oh and did you realise you can pre order Lobster Thermidor on their book the cook menu?

  4. In October I will be using Singapore airlines Business class from Frankfurt to changi, then Emirates First class from Sing to Dubai, then Emirates business class to my home location in Birmingham England, the reason I wanted to try Singapore airlines is because of the good reviews I saw a few years ago, but now I am not so sure. We will see, I hope they improve a little!

  5. Thanks for another excellent report Chris. I remember commenting on your SQ 380 video about how I hope the airline is not slipping with their standards, but sadly it looks like they are. I have watched quite a number of other reports on various channels showing similar decline of service and soft product; especially in business class it seems. It is such a shame, I do hope they realise they need to improve to continue to be the iconic five star airline we all love.

  6. Love your honest reviews. Little negative note, your trip are self funded and unbiased but why do you show Sam Chui in your introduction.

  7. Excellent report. What a shame the two components that made SQ great (someone said that stood for superior quality), food and service are no longer the best. The only positive to SQ is Changi airport. I hope they lift their game and at least make an effort to compete with the middle eastern airlines.

  8. Excellent reviewer! Very humble, makes a refreshing change in this space. One of the best at the moment along with One World Flyer, Paul Stewart and Jangsu Aviation. So cute with your teacher. Wishing your channel massive growth!

  9. I dont think your review is an accurate reflection of Singapore Airlines. i fly with them as a rule and have found them to be excellent. I think you went out of your way to be negative on things that didn't need to be mentioned. The flower in the bathroom is case in point..and then to take the time to compare that to another airline's flowers was a cheap shot and im not sure what it achieved? Then getting your friend to back you up was cheap. Did you interview others or just choose the person that would serve your narrative? Quite a poor effort. Cheers.
