Set in the northern mountains of Kyoto and surrounded by lush cedar forests sits the charming village of Kibune. It is the perfect escape from the big city.
Exploring the ancient Kifune Shrine is a must when visiting this area. The shrine is dedicated to the deity of water and rain. Here you’ll find a special omikuji (paper fortune) which appears only when floated on the water of the shrine’s fountain. If you visit during summer, kawadoko, a unique kaiseki dining experience on platforms built above the Kibune River, is also a must! 💦
