Abandoned Italy (Season 3, Episode 04) Castelpoto, a ghost town exploration
This is a re-upload! Two weeks ago, we posted the original exploration episode. One building we entered in that video was still privately owned. That person made her lawyer contact us to tell us we had to take our video offline. To avoid any legal troubles, we decided to remove any footage showing the inside of that particular house.
In southern Italy, there are countless ghost towns, only populated nowadays by animals and plants. But the place we explore in this video is different: after a disastrous earthquake decades ago, residents of Castelpoto collectively decided not to abandon their homes. They did not want to relocate, but they could not live in their ravaged homes either. So instead, they decided to build a new part of town – directly adjacent to the old ruins. On a summer day, we came here to explore the old and new town, talk to locals and learn about the story of Italy’s most uncommon ghost town. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex
