Kyoto Station is the hub for sightseeing in Kyoto.
Since Kyoto does not have an airport, travelers must use trains or buses to get to Kyoto from abroad.
Kyoto Station is served by JR, Kinki Nippon Railway, and Kyoto Municipal Subway.
Bus stops for local buses, highway buses, and airport buses are located around Kyoto Station.
There are also hotels, theaters, and museums.

Kyoto Station is the perfect place to go shopping in Kyoto.
There is a shopping mall (The CUBE) and a department store (Isetan) in the Kyoto Station Building, as well as a specialty store area called Porta in the basement.
There is also a souvenir shop in the Kyoto Tower on the north side of the station, and an electronics retailer Yodobashi Camera is next to the tower, so you will have no trouble shopping.

Kyoto Station is famous for its central concourse with a large atrium on the north side of the station.
This station building was reconstructed in 1997.
Looking up from the first floor is a wonderful view, but the rooftop is an observation deck that offers the best panoramic view of Kyoto.
