Have you ever heard of a god of marriage? 👰⛩
The three main buildings of Otonashi Shrine in Kochi Prefecture were rebuilt in 1663. The approach to the shrine comes in from the waters of Uranouchi Bay. Because of this, people are allowed to let their Omikuji prayer slips float away into the water instead of tying them to a tree like normal. Don’t worry, the paper is made to fully dissolve in water!
Otonashi Shrine is also famous as home to a powerful god of bringing people together. Most people take this to mean marriage, but it can really be for any reason at all!
You can even find Otonashi Shrine on Japanese passports!
Thanks @kyoko1903! What a stunning shot!
