Zuishin-in is a Buddhist temple located in Yamashina in Kyoto Prefecture. It is famous for its connection to the beautiful Ono no Komachi, a renowned poet from the Heian period (late 8th century to the 12th century).
In the temple, you’ll find a Jizō statue said to have been made from a thousand love letters sent to Ono no Komachi during her life. The altar dedicated to Komachi is protected by a sliding screen from two designers known as Daruma Shoten. The brightly colored screen shows scenes from Ono no Komachi’s life in its four panels.
