Dating all the way back to 940, this colourful pagoda is part of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple complex in Narita, Chiba Prefecture, one of Japan’s oldest temples. While its structures, statues and sacred objects offer a fascinating insight into different centuries of history, one of its main attractions is the daily Goma Fire Ritual. This ancient tradition involves the head monk praying in front of a fire to grant visitors’ wishes and protect against bad luck. 🙏🔥
