What’s not to lava about this volcano?! One of the younger volcanoes in the area (shaped about 3,300 years ago), Komezuka may be small in stature at just 80 metres tall, but what it lacks in height, it makes up for it in beauty. Nestled within Aso UNESCO Global Geopark on the island of Kyushu, Komezuka is renowned for its almost perfectly shaped cone and slightly indented peak, which looks like an inverted rice bowl. 🍚

Please note: It is not permitted to climb Komezuka. For the best views, hike the adjacent Mt Kishima (from where this shot was taken).
