Step back in time with a visit to the 42nd post town of Tsumago in Nagano Prefecture. Once a key traffic hub intersecting the ancient Nakasendo and Inado roads, Tsumago became the first town in the country to be selected as part of an important townscape preservation initiative. To this day, cars are prohibited on its main street during the day and powerlines are hidden, allowing visitors to experience a taste of life as a traveller from the Edo Period (1603-1867). 👘
