It’s the last day of our 3 day Tohoku trip and we make our way to Abukuma-do from Fukushima Station. Abukuma-do is a limestone cave located in Fukushima Prefecture and is accessible from Kammata Station in Tamura City by taxi.
About 600 meters of the cave are open to the public and more adventurous visitors can opt to take a 120 meter long exploration course which leads through a narrow side tunnel before rejoining the main course.
The cave and all its features were impressive and it was an out-of-this-world experience. We highly recommend visiting! Unfortunately the nearby Star Village Observatory and Planetarium was closed that day so we couldn’t visit.
