Every year from early December to New Year’s Eve, a row of zelkova trees on Jozenji-street, which is said to be the symbol of the “City of Trees Sendai,” shines with hundreds of thousands of LED bulbs. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the winter tradition “SENDAI Pageant of Starlight” held in Sendai, this illumination is said to be one of the biggest in Japan and it is also popular as a date spot because of its enchanting beauty.

In addition, trees and illuminations are set up in Kotodai Park along Jozenji-dori, and you can enjoy the light up in the surrounding area as well. While you here don’t miss the Starlight Wink, where all the illuminations at the pageant venue are turned off once and then turned on again with the countdown.
