In the stillness of the cedar forest rises the National Treasure—Hagurosan Five-Story Pagoda. The shingle-roofed, unpainted wooden tower is the oldest five-story pagoda in the Tohoku Region. Standing nearby is a giant cedar tree that has been watching over the ascetics and the monks of the sacred Mt. Haguro for more than 1000 years.
