1. If you are planning to go to famous soup curry restaurants, I recommend going early. Because they stop taking people on the waitlist quite fast. For ‘soup curry garaku’ they start giving out tickets 30minutes before they open. (you can get a number and go shopping or smth while u wait for them to send you a message that it’s your turn to enter) Soup curry Treasure doesn’t give out tickets so you have to wait in line.

2. If you’re going during the winter time, the streets are REALLY slippery. (Honestly felt like I was ice skating through the streets 😅) So I recommend that you have shoes equip for that. + they sell winter shoes and other equipment in Sapporo so you don’t have to buy everything in advance.
3. If you are planning to go to otaru, I recommend you start off at minami-otaru station and get on the JR at otaru station when returning to Sapporo.
4. Even if you go there during the winter, Ice cream is a must. Hokkaido is famous for their dairy products
5. A lot of places only takes cash and doesn’t accept separate payments.
6. There are a lot of products they only sell in the HOKKAIDO region. So I recommend buying those as souvenirs over other products you can potentially buy in other regions of Japan. eg) Ilohas(いろはす)- ハスカップ flavor water ハスカップ is a kind of fruit that the native people who lived in Hokkaido enjoyed eating
7. Japanese people have a culture of dealing with hangovers by eating parfait. It’s called シメパフェ Shime parfait. Which literally means end with parfait. That’s why most parfait places will sell both liquor tea and parfait. Also they will open in the afternoon till late at night. There are a lot of cute parfait places so I recommend you check them out.
