Hug by Mrs. Green Apple is a song I really like. I do find it comforting to listen to it when I am down. I have always interpreted it as a song about loneliness and as an encouragement to accept it and try to love yourself and encourage yourself. To me, it's not a song that talks to another person, but to yourself. However, there is a part of the song that really makes no sense to me. This one:

Translation:
The love in my heart is riddled in nothingness
Already, my blood-stained affection stands candidate
Its true form is covered by cloth
This blood-stained love wins first prize
How would you interpret this? Is it unrequited love? What do you think of the whole song?
