Today’s adventure takes us to one of Japan’s top ski destinations…Nagano’s world famous Hakuba Happo-one Snow Resort.

We left Tokyo around 7:00 this morning, and after a 3-and-a-half-hour drive, we arrived in the beautiful Hakuba Valley for the first of two days in Nagano Japan.

We picked up our gear rentals, our lift passes, and made it onto the gondola just after 11:00…giving us 5 hours on the mountain.

Hakuba Happo-one, one of Japan’s largest ski resorts, is blessed with breathtaking panoramic views of the Hakuba mountain range and boasts 1701 meters of vertical drop.

As the host for the 1998 Winter Olympics and the Free Ride World Tour Happo-One is Nagano’s most popular snow resort. The mountain hosted the alpine skiing downhill, super giant slalom, and combined slalom events. It has a steep pitch making it best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Happo helped bring Japanese ski resorts to the mainstream. Happo-One is in the center of a purpose-built village and has everything you would expect to find at a premiere ski resort.

After an amazing day of skiing…a warm fire, hot shower, and comfortable bed awaited us at Hakuba’s Mojo Lodge. A cozy lodge located just 11-minutes from the mountain.
