great video like always! i am really hyped for my first trip to japan in 2026.
Definitely on the list for my next trip. I managed to get to halfway up the mountain for the Kyoto one several years ago, but I was too tired to get to the top (unlike my friends who had unlimited energy), and now I'll probably never do it due to how busy Kyoto has got.
I have no idea if this is true,
But maybe it’s called 東伏見 because it’s a 伏見 shrine in the 東 (東京/Tokyo).
When I first held of the station name, I was like if 東伏見 is here, then where’s 西伏見 lol
The one in kyoto isn't too bad if you take the side routes / higher up or go toward the end of the day when all the tour groups leave
Likely the quietest shrine in Japan itself. I can see people come here if they get overwhelmed in crowded places (like Kyoto).
There's no way you're elementary-school-level if you passed N1. hahah
I can believe you with the native part though. Considering how hard it is for foreigners to learn, there are probably even more rules used in casual conversation that wouldn't be taught in textbooks.
Being mostly Japanese, you are the perfect american for outdoor recording/streaming because the locals won't think you're like Jonny Somali or Jake Paul.
I found your channel from the train video and I gotta say I love how calm and relaxing your videos are. Really fun to watch you explore places in Japan you didn't know before either!
Awesome video, glad I subscribed with that train video! I really like the low key "hey let me take a camera and show you something cool" video style
That's pretty cool, one more place to add to the list of places to maybe check out on my next trip.
Btw, if you want to see the fushimi inari shrine in Kyoto, but don't like crowds, if you go in the early morning when it's raining it can be VERY empty. We went in April last year, at around 6 am in quite heavy rain (by my European standards, Japan probably gets worse in the rainy season), and saw maybe 5 other people in the entire shrine. Something about rain in a forest is also super peaceful to me, so maybe the rain even improved it. Though if you don't like rain, from what I've heard it's reasonably quiet there in the morning even with better weather.
I went to the one in Kyoto. It was rainy and during the week, so it was actually pretty open. The rain was pretty too, though it made the path a bit slippery.
I didn’t know there was one in Tokyo too, maybe I’ll visit that one next time I’m in Japan. Thanks for sharing!
I want to visit Japan at one point so badly
Also I love how you mount your camera on your shoulder 😂
Have people really done pull up on tori gates? I vaguely recall headlines about this, but finding out for sure would be too painful… 😂
And screw going to the crowded Kyoto shrine tbh. Sure it's going to be fun and maybe even impressive, but from the sound of it you're like me and all those people are just going to be exhausting, lol. (probably some nice snack places around like all good tourist spots though!)
Ironically, I got here because of the vegan ramen video. Legit love the chill vibes you get in each video so that's why I stayed <3
Nice video. I'll add this to my trip ideas playlist. I would love to go to shrines like this.
Tanner, you made a fwend! Pity he's all the way over in Chiba tho. XD
5:09 hahahah that was so random
I've been to the one in Kyoto just 2 days after Japan opened up after covid. And there weren't any tourists, just Japanese locals enjoying themselves. The writing on the tori gates are different sponsors that sponsor each gate. I really enjoyed it. So I'm glad I went when I did.
Taking it for what it is, with no comparisons to Kyoto, this shrine looks like a wonderful time. Perfect for a tourism stroll in the morning.
I went to it too!
The Kyoto one is not that bad when I went there last year around May. The higher up you go, the crowd gets smaller.
