Having Kyoto lost to war would have been very psychologically damaging to many people, not just the Japanese. 5:04 I'm glad I was able to experience it for myself during fall and spring and feel apart of history.

I think it’s because the yen currency is very weak right now. It used to be an expensive country, and now is viewed as both relatively affordable and very safe.
