Cockpit Casual – Two out of Tokyo

Bob and Steve head to Tokyo at the tail-end of the COVID pandemic to pull a pair of Boeing 767-300 aircraft out of JAL in this throwback episode filmed in 2022. The aircraft had recently retired from the passenger fleet and were purchased for tear-down and part-out in Blytheville Arkansas. The ferry flights were made with a single technical stop in Great Falls Montana.

As usual, this episode features some original music by Steve SR.

  1. Thanks, Steve. Awesome as usual. The music really is enjoyable to listen to along with your interesting narration. Appreciate your work and these great stories.

  2. Liked before I even started watching. This is the ONLY YouTube series that accurately portrays our job. No bullshit influencer glamour.

  3. Love what you guys do – thanks for all the great videos. Can’t wait for what you have next.

  4. My walk on the treadmill went by too quickly… these videos are short like Gary Coleman… CMONN GUYS 😎 Watchooo talkin bout Nomadic?

  5. I’m nothing more than an aviation buff who works in a wholly unrelated field…but that near-minimums approach was incredibly presented with amazing videography. Honestly probably my favorite Cockpit Casual content so far. Thank you for this (and everything)!

  6. I love watching your videos, straight to the point, sprinkle in some humor, and tell the story as it is. 10/10 video as usual!

  7. Man, your channel is my favorite one on YouTube. Thank you so much for making these videos. I get so much joy watching them.

  8. I still get jet lag watching these. Chasing sleep is a difficult part of the job but you guys always appear to handle it well. Thanks for another great episode.😵‍💫😴😎👍🏼

  9. around 26:25 when bob is calling "sinking 9, skinking 6" is it correct to say that he is calling out the vertical speed in feet per minute?

  10. Another wonderful episode – especially the montage transition between the two flights, and pairing of Giordano Snr's music (I'm always surprised by diversity of the music he produces!)
Bob looking abit more dressed up on the second flight makes him look like a banker moonlighting as a pilot 😅😅

On the ghostbusters part, there were boxes on some of the Y seats – dismantled IFE screens?
Also, what gear do you use for those mid-flight 360 timelapses? DJI Osmo?

Interesting that only the J seats were removed on both flights

  11. Bravo Steve! 10/10 film, music, editing and story, loved it. Your and Bob's teamwork on the minimums approach was awesome. Shout out to the masochist captain's seat and flaming orange on the Teppan! Thanks to you, Bob and all at Nomadic.

  12. Always a good day when one of your videos drop. Thanks for taking us along for the trips. We have a company that does the breakdown close to home (ktup) kind of sad driving by, but serves good purpose.
