Hashima Island, also known as Gunkanjima, is an uninhabited island off the coast of Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. In 2015, the island was inscribed as a World Heritage Site as part of the “Industrial Revolution of Meiji Japan: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Industry”. Today, the island is uninhabited and its ruins are a reminder of its former prosperity. However, its unique history and scenery have made it a popular destination for many tourists.
端島、通称軍艦島は、長崎県長崎市の沖合にある無人島です。明治時代から昭和時代にかけて、海底炭鉱として栄え、かつては世界一の建物密度を誇る島として知られていました。2015年、「明治日本の産業革命遺産 製鉄・製鋼、造船、石炭産業」の一つとして世界文化遺産に登録されました。現在は無人島となり、かつての繁栄を偲ばせる廃墟となっています。しかし、その独特な歴史と景観から、多くの観光客が訪れる人気スポットとなっています。
