RENDEZVOUS IN KYOTO: Visit JAPAN & join your mates on school tour? Why not? #japan #nara #mates
Cosi had been excited for this part of the trip since before we left Australia.
GSG was having their Japan at the end of November, which matched all of our plans perfectly, so we booked it in. They came in from Tokyo, we came in from Osaka, and we met it Kyoto.
We booked dinner at the same restaurant that they were going to be eating at on the Wednesday, and they got to have a preliminary chat there to get the cobwebs out, then Thursday was for Nara.
The day trip out to Nara had always been the big one for the boy, and he hardly slept the night before in anticipation of seeing his mates.
We met up at Nijo Castle and stuck with them for the rest of the day, through train trips from Kyoto to Nara, drizzle, set menus, uphill walks, deer, gates, enormous shrines, not Buddhas, deer food, mochi rice cakes skewers, downhill walks, screaming deer, train trips back to Kyoto, and goodbyes in the train station.
Well worth it.
Would recommend.
