Why JAPAN started banning tourists? 😲
Big changes are coming for tourists in Japan! Starting April 2024, tourists will be banned from some alleys in Kyoto’s Gion district, as well as certain restaurants and tea houses. Why? The Kyoto government made this decision after numerous complaints from locals about disrespectful behavior. Some tourists have entered private areas, harassed, and even touched geishas without consent. ESPECIALLY INFLUENCERS AND TIK TOKERS! Such actions are a violation of both cultural respect and basic civility. Kyoto has tried warning tourists with signs since 2019, but behavior hasn’t improved. Is this ban the right move, or is there a better solution?
