  1. This was my mom’s and my first time in Kamikochi! 🏔️There are ways to make the trip cheaper: 1) book early, 2) stay for just one night, and 3) consider camping. Our costs were higher because we booked only two weeks in advance, so most of the cheaper options were already sold out 🥲

While you can make this a day trip from Matsumoto, I’m glad we spent three days around the area, as the river’s appearance changes drastically with the weather. The first day at Sawando was cloudy, the second was sunny, and the third turned cloudy again. Personally, I think it’s SO much nicer when the weather is clear! If you want to increase your chances of good weather, I’d definitely recommend staying at least one night 😊👍

  2. Love the monkeys, they’re so cute! Also did your mum live or study in the U.K.? She has a bit of an accent!
