A Disappointing Kobe Beef Experience #traveljapan #kobebeef
A few years ago, I dined at this steakhouse in Kobe, and it was amazing. This time, I returned with high expectations but left disappointed. The beef is indeed of good quality, but the chef was unskilled—clumsy, turning this premium beef into something dry and tough. I’m not asking for flashy cooking techniques, but at the very least, the chef should be proficient.
On this trip to Japan, I felt that people in the city seem more restless than before. What I used to admire most, the craftsmanship spirit, seems to be slowly fading in big cities. Take this steakhouse as an example: they lure customers with cheap street ads, passing off average wagyu as top-tier Kobe beef. In the process of attracting business, they’re squandering the reputation they had built over the years.
Such a shame for such good beef. If I had grilled it myself, it would’ve been far more delicious.
