Traveling to Japan? Here are three travel tips to make your trip a lot smoother.
First, avoid major local holidays. Specifically, Golden Week from late April to early May, Summer Vacation in mid-August, and New Year’s holidays. Many Japanese people take their holidays at the same time, which results in higher travel costs and crowded tourist spots.
Second, stay away from rush hour. Japanese commuting time is famous around the world for its incredible congestion and packed trains. The specific peak times are from 7:30 to 9:00 AM on weekdays and from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the evening.
Third, skip public transportation when it’s busy. In cities like Kyoto, even off-peak hours can be crowded. Why not rent a bike or scooter? It’s healthier, eco-friendly, and you’ll have a better experience.
