If you want to experience being in Canada without leaving Japan, head on to Niji no Sato in Shuzenji, in Izu City. Located in Shizuoka Prefecture just about three to four hours away from Tokyo, you can get to the place via Shuzenji Station on Sunzu Line. 

One of the villages in the 50-hectare garden and park is the Canadian Village, a replica of Nelson City in Canada’s British Columbia province, which is also the sister city of Izu.  

The village features a forest and lake, where I got to dip my feet in cold rushing waters. The village gives a scenic natural view, is home to a Kaleidoscope Museum in Nelson Hall, and there’s also a native fort where we can see a colorful children’s playground
