The food in Sri Lanka is so rich and flavourful. We started off exploring the best street food in Sri Lanka by going to a local shop to try egg hoppers. Egg hoppers are a popular street food here in Sri Lanka and a great way to start the day. As one of the most popular foods in Sri Lanka, egg hoppers are ordered in a few different ways.

We continued exploring the best foods to eat in Colombo and tasted the delicious and yummy king coconut. We tasted lamprais and falooda on our Sri Lankan food tour. There’s no shortage of incredible Sri Lankan street food in Colombo.

We finished off our Sri Lankan street food tour of Colombo in the Aluthkade neighbourhood of Sri Lanka. Here, we went to a local shop to see how they make their string hoppers and other local dishes. String hoppers are another popular Sri Lankan food that you must try. Seeing string hoppers get made by hand was such a treat, and they tasted amazing as well, very different than the egg hoppers we tried earlier in the day. Last on our Colombo food tour was Sri Lanka’s national dish, curry and rice. We tried the popular Colombo Sri Lankan kukul mas curry along with fried goat brains!
