Maiden Voyage! We have purchased an Aluminium Crowther Catamaran and moved onboard last week. We are now living aboard our sailboat as full time liveaboards and we are about to depart the marina for the first time and sail SV Shining Light on her first expedition. There are a few bumps along the way as we are getting used to our new boat, come learn what living on a boat is all about! Bugger about the outboard. What is the issue with it? Would have been a huge bugger getting stuck at the dock with groceries 😮
Jumping on a boat cold is always trickery, if that is the only problems then you are coming off pretty good.
We love the boat works! When we were there last we got delayed waiting for trades. It's a real good idea to book in advance for the things you know about and save the favours for the things you don't lol.
What was the problem with the anchor? Was it piling the chain on the deck?
If you can't get the outboard started and you are on the boat, how do you get to shore? Would you have to call a friend to come get you? Glad the outboard eventually started!

Outboard playn up is my top 3 most frustrating things, especially if others with are "trying" to be helpful. If u get up Indo way, check out Kalimantan Marine Engines, 15hp 2 stroke (less issues vs 4) for ~1.2k.
As for Cat power/efficiency.
Single diesel engine one side = drive power when needed, charges batteries, heats water, less maint & parts. Elec engine other side = when it'll do the job.
