Cruise Ships Diverted Over Attacks in Israel, Ships Flee Was Zone



Cruise news today. Several cruise lines have rerouted their ships due to safety concerns after a Hamas attack on Israel. During the surprise attack, Oceania Cruises’ Nautica and Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam were docked in Haifa but departed shortly after. Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas was rerouted to Turkey and Cyprus. Meanwhile, Rhapsody of the Seas canceled its sailing today and Oct 13 from Haifa. P&O Cruises Australia’s ship, Pacific Explorer, successfully rescued a mariner who was in distress. Tom Robinson was aiming to be the youngest person to row across the Pacific Ocean but had his boat damaged and overturned by a rough wave near New Caledonia. The Norwegian Jewel has embarked on a 16-night repositioning Transpacific cruise from Seattle, having spent its summer in Alaska. Set to conclude on October 18, 2023, the ship’s journey includes stops in Hakodate and Sendai before reaching its final destination, Tokyo. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

    I am scheduled on the NCL cruise that's scheduled to depart Haifa next month. No word yet on the sailing for both cruises next month. Earlier this year, as you've reported, NCL made the decision to transition the Epic to the Caribbean 12/1 – canceling the remainder of the Israel/Italy cruises previously scheduled. It's safe to say that Ashdod is out of the question given it's location at a minimum for both 11/8 and 11/20 sailings. If it cancels, I'm prepared to accept the major change. Israel getting back to safety and some semblance of peace is more important than the cruise.

    I am awaiting the itinerary change for my trip in 3 weeks on the NCL Gem. Israel was one of the stops I was so excited for….to see the Holy Land. Guess not.

    Hello Doug. Wishing it was a beautiful Monday all around the world. Keeping our innocent brothers and sisters that are suffering in my thoughts and prayers. Thankfully, the cruise ships can divert from harms way, but those living amidst the turmoil have no where to run or hide. Thank goodness the young man in the Pacific Ocean was able to be rescued… the risks we take to live our best life…to each his own. Kudos to the Pacific Explorer for always being in the right place at the right time. I would love to experience a Southeast Asia cruise. The countries, people and food are all so unique and wonderful. Thanks for keeping us in the know Doug. Have a blessed and beautiful Monday. ✌🏾🚢🥰

    Thanks Doug. The rescue ship had to miss two of its planned ports to drop the sailor off in Auckland, New Zealand. Although happy the guy was safe and well, many of the passengers weren’t happy with having to shorten their vacation.
