Today we explore Zihuatanejo Mexico in the state of Guerrero on the West coast of Mexico. Zihuatanejo also known as Ixtapa Zihuatanejo because of its close proximity to the other resort town is popular with tourists and cruise ship passengers. Many Canadians visit this area of Mexico. We walk around the main beach as well as go over to La Ropa. We also take a tour around the bay and even a condo in Zihuatanejo. We also show you several hotels including staying at two different hotels. We don’t actually show you Ixtapa although that is a resort town just north of here.

  1. Also Aura Del Mar hotel is/was pretty nice. Their restaurant is down on the beach . It’s got the huge white awning. You probably walked past it closer to downtown.

  2. Get busy living, or get busy dying.. Gosh damn right! Zihuaaaaaaa! Love La Ropa Beach… We'll be there in March! Great video!

  3. Was there in August. Heading back this April. Fact check, Shawshank movie ending was filmed in the Caribbean.

  4. I have walked those streets many times. I’ve sat and drank cocktails watching the fishermen bringing in their daily catch. I miss Zihwat so much. My favorite place I’ve ever been!

  5. Visited here some 50 years ago when I was 20 years old, drove the 100 miles from Acapulco by jeep on very primitive roads and stayed at "Sotaventa"when it was one of the very few hotels in the area and it looked so different then. The owner was a German architect who constructed the rooms into the hillside, his wife was French (I think) so the food had European influences with fantastic local seafood and fruits. The rooms were open to the wonderful, low humidity weather with the typical hammocks of the region being a fixture on every balcony and patio. It was paradise! La Ropa beach was just a large coconut palm plantation, the town was a very small fishing village with a few local tourists only. There was no Ixtapa to the north and not very many houses on the surrounding mountains. The airport was very small with mainly private planes of fishermen from the U.S. and Canada. You took a small boat to Gato Beach at the mouth of the bay for the best swimming. Can't believe the changes. I've traveled all around the world since then but this really was a special place whose memory I will always cherish. Thanks so much for taking me back. Safe travels and I also very much appreciate your taking us along on all your journeys. Happy New Year!

  6. People say that one fugitive from USA live in Zihua for many years and people loved him, this was in the '30s / 40's so maybe the Shawshank Redemption has a little of true.

  7. Great video , I like the original soundtrack from the local stores and you can hear what people's walking by are talking about

  8. Beautiful Zihuatanejo, for spend a romantic escape o simply with family or friends, walkable, cheap and nice views over the hills

  9. 80 pesos is $4 American, not $6.
Simple formula for you senor. Pesos to American dollars.
600 pesos. Drop last digit. So drop the last zero. = 60.
Then cut in half. = 30. So 600 pesos. = $30 American dollars.
Works every time. Not always perfect but gets you close.
And you will impress your friends. 😎 🤔

  10. Great informative video! Like that you showcased some of the on the beach hotels that I have also been looking at on google maps. Also appreciate the comparison of the 2 beaches. My husband and I love to swim in the ocean so appreciate this info. Were you there in December of 2021 as per the date on the video? Thank you.

  11. " I find I'm so excited that I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at a start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope."

  12. Great video thank you.
