Zamboangan cuisine is very unique compared to the rest of the food in the Philippines. We started our Zamboanga City street food tour trying out some Moro cuisine, local to the area. We continued our Zamboanga City street food tour heading to a coffee shop to try the popular local coffee. The local Filipino foods they serve here went perfectly with the coffee on our Filipino food tour. Tasty, flavourful and oh so yummy, this was a great meal.

One of the most popular Zamboanga street foods we knew we had to eat was KnickerBocker. Similar to Halo-Halo, this Zamboanga version is a can’t miss street food in the city!

To finish off our Zamboanga City street food tour, we ate the most popular food in the Philippines, balut. Balut is a Filipino fertilized duck egg that is by far the most popular Filipino street food. Eating balut, Filipino duck egg, was something we’d been wanting to try since we arrived, and finally these Canadians try balut in the Philippines!

We hope you enjoy our Zamboanga City street food tour, where these Canadians try balut in the Philippines, eating Filipino duck egg. Stay tuned for more street food adventures next week!

  1. As a former US Marine, I had the privilege to train with our counterpart. The Philippine Army. Such great comradery and very hospitable individuals. The balut became our favorite treat, we keep hearing them say… “Americans eat balut with no facial expression of disgust” Memories worth while 🫡

  2. Hello steph and Chris you guys really eat everything. This is something I'm really not going to eat. Nice video again. I love you guys

  3. Thanks for featuring Moro cuisine guys ❤ It's always great to know more about food and culture down south. I might hunt for some in Manila one of these days as Zamboanga is too far from NCR.

And totally agree with Steph with her description of balut, tasty and scary. Ive no words for Chris and the 18 day old egg. 👊🏻💪🏻😂😊

A bit of trivia, the white eraser like part is often not eaten because it just too tough to chew. We call it "bato" in Tagalog, means "rock" in English.

  4. I want you to try authentic Filipino food…try DINUGUAN, ADOBO, SINIGANG, BULALO, BOPIS, MENUDO, KARE KARE, CALDERETA, LAING

  5. Amazing street food tour! The Philippines have such interesting and unique foods I never heard of before. The Moro dishes look really delicious. The Balut look quite extreme and you guys handled it like pro. Looking forward to you next Filipino street food adventures ❤

  6. What a beautiful city with such a lovely promenade to walk along and watch the sunset! We have to say that watching you eat the balut has to be the most extreme thing we've seen you do so far!!!

  7. Congratulation ma'am and sir you're so brave to eat that balut! He, he, he, more power and more videos to watch!

  8. Everyone has a Balot video. You should go eat Penoy. I dont know why no eats that on a video. Balot and Penoy was like Batman and Robin. They are sold by the same vendors who sell balot and the chicharon.
