いよいよ祭りが動き始めます！祭りが「静」から「動」へ。「舁き山」を町内にお披露目する流舁き（ながれがき）。それぞれの流ごとに、流の区域内を担いで廻ります。山舁き初日なので男衆達の気合いも充分で山笠の走るスピードも早いと言われています。30人以上の男達が代わる代わる舁き続けて疾走する姿は迫力です。舁き山が接近する場合、必ず「先走り」と呼ばれる招き板や招き旗を持った子ども達が先にやってきます。
The first kakiyama practice run is an exciting event, as teams get to practice carrying their floats within their respective districts. Some nagare (teams) start as early as 3:00 pm, but most commence at 5:00 pm. We’ll be roaming around to witness these practice runs and also visit some shops specializing in Yamakasa merchandise. This will be our first opportunity to see the “yama” (floats) in action – and in daylight, no less!
We are also planning to live-stream other Yamakasa events, including “Oiyamanarashi” on July 12th. This event is a rehearsal for the Oiyama run where participants traverse a slightly shortened 4 km course through the streets of Hakata from Kushida Shrine. So save the date and we’ll livestream even more before the climax of the festival – the Oiyama, which commences at 4:55 am on July 15th. Catch all the action live or whenever on Kyushu Live!
