😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner – we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

  1. Wow every video you make is amazing and no wonder people help you lovely people. I started watching you when you were in Turkey during covid and when you move on to another country I always think, I'll never enjoy this one so much, but I always do because your adventures are always so interesting. Keep making these fabulous videos and enjoy Japan to the fullest.

  2. Hello Ambassadors
How nice are the people of Japan! I love that hospitality.
Earthquakes are normal since the island itself is created by subduction of oceanic crust under another one. The subduction zones are famous for producing earthquakes due to constant movement there. As you know, if they tell you " Tsunami" is coming then you must immediately move in the higher elevations. Recall 2011 Tsunami ?
I loved the video. Food was….Being Turkish…ihhhh. I would have a little hard time to get used to the dishes there. No offense to my JAPANESE BROTHERS! I am sure there many dishes that I would love.
    Guys, be safe!
    Love from Florida❤❤🇹🇷🇹🇷

  3. Wow you certainly have away of finding the most amazing local contacts. Brilliant vid and congratulations on 100k. 🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍😍😍

  4. The Dog festival was mentioned and is very upsetting.I will never understand people capable of such insane cruelty and they choose a,poor dog slaughter it and eat it ! As yph began thd Turtle sanctuary maybe yoh will 8nfluence the stopping of this barbaric practice Love S x

  5. The getting-the-stuff looks SO hard! I guess logistics companies always do that for their customers – having private individuals picking up the stuff. My heart was in my mouth when the fork lift approached the smaller-by-the-minute van! Looks like a great first few days in Japan and a wow of an onsen experience – but you know – it ain't onsen if you wear bathers! Gotta strip!!!!

    そう言えばその通り!😂

  7. Were you ok in the underground onsen? The 2-way split to the onsen actually had 女湯 (female bath) on the left side and 男湯 (male bath) on the right side.
They are usually color-coded (male blue and female red) in most onsen places, but maybe it's better to learn the shapes of these letters to not get into trouble in your future experience:)

  8. there are temple passports books that use to be available so you can go to different temples and get them stamped so you can see how many you visit. happy traveling. in california we use to be told during earthquakes don't park too close to buildings in case things fall, and don't park to close to waters edge on a cliff in case it falls. also if you are by the waters edge and it suddenly disappears quickly and sirens go off run for high ground its a tsunami.

  9. While driving to Northern California a couple of years ago, I got about a 10 second warning before the 6.2 quake. I pulled over the road and felt the whole thing. They can be life savers. 👍

  10. That was pretty amazing…My Daughter went to University in Kanazawa for 6 months 10 years ago…she loved the place

  11. Σας εύχομαι ασφαλή ταξίδια στην Ιαπωνία !!!!!!
    απο ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΙΚΗ ,,,ΕΛΛΑΔΑ !!!

  12. Wow, they have the same pedestrian laws as Istanbul…NOT! LOL, not even the sidewalks are safe from motor vehicles here.

  13. Hi .You guys are inspirational with your adventures .Really enjoyable watch.I noticed the terrible dragging buffeting noise coming from your windscreen wipers.A good and simple solution to your problem is to spray some WD40 on to a cloth and rub it up and down the blades. ATB from Scotland.

  15. Thank you so much to your AMAZING friends for their FABULOUS help ! 💕
Hearth quakes must be scary …
I hope you’ll be ok during your trip …
    🥰

  16. I thoroughly enjoy this channel and content, such a joy to watch. 😉 1. question on the superbly thought out idea of the Vanslation shirt…what the heck is the TeePee symbol for??? At first I thought it was lodging, but that isn't the symbol (And why don't you have that in case of emergency) I can find no reference to that symbol that makes any sense to be on your shirt???

  17. Do travel in the bullet train in Japan. These high speed trains are known as Shinkansen (there are 3 types). You will enjoy it.

  18. Feel better soon, our sulky, chubby, Japanese-lorry-sized wobblewagon! She certainly got full value out of those tiny wheels. 😁 The narrow tree-lined roads might give her some new adventure stripes! Have you noticed the traffic lights occasionally have blue lights instead of green? A quite interesting story worth Googling if you're curious.

Good shout on taking the opportunity for a soak in an onsen!

I have a Japanese word for your travels: "Yatta!" It means "Hooray, I/we did it!" Like when a pallet fits into the back of a hired van. 😂
