Mount Fuji, also known as Fuji-san, is a mysterious and beautiful mountain located in southeastern Japan. It is one of the highest peaks in the country, standing at an elevation of 3,776 meters above sea level. The mountain is composed of several smaller peaks, but is generally referred to as Mount Fuji. It is located in the Shizuoka Prefecture, approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, the capital of Japan, and near the cities of Hamamatsu and Shizuoka.
Also Mount Fuji is located near the Pacific Ocean coast on the central Honshu island, and is surrounded by three small cities: Gotemba (south), Fujiyoshida (north), and Fujinomiya (southwest).
Because of its pristine nature and abundance of beautiful landscapes, such as lakes, forests, and wildflowers, Mount Fuji is known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. The area is also recognized as a sacred and important location for some of the Japanese religions, particularly Shinto.
