ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

D: We had such a great time in Yokohama, didn’t we?
M: Ya, it was a lot of fun!
D: Let’s go over what we did there.
M: Sure!
D: First, we took the bullet train to Shin-Yokohama.
M: Yes, and I was happy to ride on it again.

M: Shin-Yokohama was like a big city.
D: Yeah, it’s a modern city with skyscrapers, shopping malls, and sports facilities. One of the most recognizable landmarks is the Yokohama Arena.
M: Yeah, it was huge.
D: It’s a multipurpose indoor arena that can hold up to 17,000 people. It has hosted various events, including concerts, sports competitions, and cultural festivals.
M: Cool.

D: There was also the Nissan Stadium.
It’s a large sports complex that includes a soccer stadium and other facilities.
M: It looked even bigger!
D: Yes, it has a seating capacity of over 70,000. The stadium was built in 1998 and has hosted many international events, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 Rugby World Cup. It’s also the home stadium of the Yokohama F. Marinos, a professional soccer team in the J1 League.
M: It seems like a lot of people visit Shin-Yokohama during events.
D: Exactly.

D: When we arrived, it was already evening.
M: Yeah, I was a bit hungry.
D: Do you remember going to the Ramen Museum?
M: Yes, I loved trying different kinds of ramen there.

D: The next day, we took the train to Chinatown.
M: Yes, Yokohama Chukagai in Japanese!
D: It’s one of the largest Chinatowns in the world.
M: It was vibrant and colorful!
D: Yes, it has many Chinese restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions.
M: It was really exciting! We walked around and searched for a restaurant.
D: Chinatown was established in the late 19th century, when Yokohama was one of the few ports in Japan open to foreign trade. Chinese traders and merchants started settling in the area, and over time, it grew into a thriving community that preserved many aspects of traditional Chinese culture.
M: That’s cool. I remember you telling me about all the history. It was fascinating.

D: We had lunch at a restaurant called Manchinro.
M: It looked very historical.
D: According to their website, it’s a large Cantonese cuisine restaurant founded in the Meiji era.
M: Yes, it was impressive. The food was great!
D: We really enjoyed it.

D: After lunch, we took the sightseeing bus.
M: Yes, Akaikutsu, right?
D: Yep, it travels around Yokohama, showcasing the “good old Yokohama” of the Meiji era and beyond, including modern architecture and the port. We saw many famous sightseeing spots from the bus.
M: It was awesome!

Yamashita Park: This park is located along Yokohama’s waterfront and offers beautiful views of the bay and the city skyline.

Red Brick Warehouse: These historic brick buildings have been converted into a shopping and dining complex, featuring many shops and restaurants.

Minato Mirai 21: This waterfront district has many shopping malls, restaurants, and entertainment venues, including the Yokohama Cosmo World amusement park.

Yokohama Landmark Tower: This skyscraper is one of the tallest buildings in Japan and has an observation deck with panoramic views of the city.

D: When it got dark, we headed back to Hamamatsu.
M: Ya, we had such a great time in Yokohama even though it was a short trip. I loved how vibrant and stimulating the city was!
D: Yes, Yokohama is definitely one of the most fascinating cities in Japan.

D: Since we enjoyed the bustling city last time, how about we visit a vast and peaceful park next time?
M: That sounds like a great idea. Let’s take some time to relax and enjoy nature.
