If you want off-the-beaten-path Filipino street food, with a more local (less touristy) feel, head to UGBO in the Tondo District of Manila. This place was busy with a younger crowd, with lots of music and action going on. The entire street is just one food vendor after another. We really only spent time on this one street, so Iโm sure we missed a lot, as well. We were able to get a taxi here and back to our hotel with no problem. There were many tuk-tuk trucks passing through there, too. We never figured out how to get on one of those, so that is something we will have to try when we come back. In this video, we eat, eat, and eat some more. We had fried foods, meat on a stick, popcorn, empanadas, and the dessert YOU suggested: Halo Halo! Kelly found a twister potato (and off camera she found fresh chili and garlic peanuts). It was a full night of eating. We met so many fun kids running around.

The term "halo-halo" basically has two meaning. Its either "mix-mix" or "stir-stir". For "mix-mix" its a variety or mixture of ingredients such as jellies, sweet beans, tapioca, milk, ice-cream, shaved ice, sugar, leche flan, ube, etc. For "stir-stir" is actually to stir all the ingredients in a circular motion and pulling up and pushing down motion with your spoon. It s the normal process to get the best taste you can get with the "halo-halo". ๐
