D: Maple, while my friend was back in Japan on a short trip from Finland, we took him to an excellent restaurant that serves premium meat dishes.
M: Ya, I’ll never forget their fabulous presentation and the high quality of their cuisine!
D: I was told about that restaurant before, but I didn’t really have the opportunity to go. However, he being here was a good excuse to go because I wanted him to enjoy great Japanese cuisine while he was in Japan.
This restaurant is excellent for business dinners and other special dining occasions.
M: Yes, and I was glad that he really enjoyed the meals there.
I had a wonderful time there, too!

D: The restaurant is located in the city center, very close to Hamamatsu Station.
M: Yes, it’s even closer to Act City, an iconic building in Hamamatsu.
D: Yep.
Let me tell you more about Act City.
As you probably know, it’s a complex of buildings that includes several facilities, such as a convention center, a concert hall, a hotel, offices, and shops.
M: Ya, I’ve been there several times.
It’s so huge that I would get lost easily.
D: Exactly, right?
The main building is Act Tower.
M: It’s so tall!
D: It is!
It’s a 213-meter-tall skyscraper.
M: How many floors are there?
D: There are a total of 45 floors.
Hamamatsu is known for its musical instruments, so this tower is shaped like one of those instruments. Can you guess which one?
M: Oh, I know the answer! It’s a harmonica, right?
D: Oh, you knew that! Great, Maple!

D: This restaurant is only 2 minutes walking distance from that area.
M: Ya, it was so close. It must be very convenient for people to go there.
D: For sure.

D: There are 4 restaurants in the building called “Food Subaru” and the restaurant we went to was on the 3rd floor.
M: Right. The restaurant was called “uruichi”.
And we took the stairs to the 3rd floor.

D: The front entrance was really nice with the black and white stones.
It was very traditional and inviting.
M: Yep. When we entered, I found the interior decor extraordinary.
D: Absolutely.

D: This was the full-course meal’s menu for the day.

D: This was the appetizer.
M: Look at how it was served.
D: Ya, it was so beautiful.
M: On the right, it’s beef rumen, onion, radish, and a green vegetable called ice plant.
D: The meat was wild boar, right? It was so rare to have it.

D: During the meal, the chef showed us the ingredients he would use for the main dish.
M: Ya, the Kuroge Wagyu was from Miyagi.
D: That’s an expensive beef known for its high marbling and tender meat.
M: That next to it was abalone and shiitake mushroom, right?
D: Yes, it looked really fresh!

D: This dish was really good!
M: Uh huh. That was local beef called Mineno Beef from Inasa.
D: The chef prepared it for us by putting some homemade garlic soy sauce and a sprinkle of salt on it.
M: The scallions he put on top were really good, too.
D: Ya, we rolled it ourselves with the dried seaweed.

D: The next dish was beef tongue.
M: The tongue was simmered and really tender.
D: The sauce was really good and spicy.
M: Ya, the chef was saying that the sauce originated in Hong Kong.

D: The next one was beef fillet.
M: We enjoyed it with the green Chinese chive sauce, wasabi cream, fried garlic and salt.
D: All the seasonings added to the wonderful flavor!
M: Absolutely.

M: This was the abalone cooked with a type of mushroom called Hanabiratake from Toyama and snow crab.
D: This thick sauce was amazingly tasty!
M: The chef was saying that his studies were founded in Chinese cuisine.
D: Ya, that totally shows.

D: Hey, look at this treasure box.
M: Yes, this presentation was really surprising and amused me!
D: The inside was black truffle.
He shaved it and put it on top of the sukiyaki dish for us.
M: Ya, the sukiyaki presentation was very sophisticated.

D: The dessert was filled with vanilla ice cream and red bean paste.
M: I really felt content at the end of this full-course meal.
D: Ya, my friend who was visiting from Finland was also fulfilled with his food. And of course I was as well!
M: Not only their food but also their service was impeccable!
D: I know. All the aspects made us want to go there again someday.

D: When we went out, it was already dark.
M: Ya, Act Tower looked really nice in the dark as well.
