We Found NO Cover Charge Bars In Golden Gai, Tokyo

We set out to enjoy the Nightlife in Tokyo, and while we were at it, we found no cover charge bars in Golden Gai, which is harder to find since every bar has a cover charge it seems.

We started our night in Shinjuku on the omoide yokocho street at a Yakatori place. This street has no cover charge for drinking, but it’s very common to get cheap and delicious food with your beer here. Plan to be squished into tiny bar seating, but that adds to the experience.

Then in Golden Gai, we journeyed to Death Match in Hell, which is right in the main part of Golden Gai. This no cover charge bar had delicious drinks all costing 666 yen.

After this, we went to Turan, which was a no cover charge bar on the street over. This is up a small row of stairs, but at the top is an incredible bar with limited bar seating. Bar tender was great and the vibes were amazing!

After many drinks, we went to Kujira, which was a basement club in Golden Gai area. This definitely was not for the faint of heart and was the wildest experience. There is no cover charge with a purchase of hookah or food, which is cheaper than the cover charge.

We ended our night in Golden Gai at a karaoke bar called Art Bar Shuten-Doji, no cover, cheap drinks, and karaoke late into the night!
