Hello, long time no see. How are you all? I hope you all doing great. So, I went to Jakarta last month. I visited Museum MACAN (Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara). I went there to see the “Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles” exhibition. The exhibition is available from November 26, 2022 until April 30, 2023. The exhibition was really interesting and unique. It’s really recommended for those who love art. Personally, I would definitely give a 5 star.
So, Chiharu Shiota is a Japanese performance and installation artist. She was born in Osaka, 1972. She’s currently based in Berlin.
Shiota’s inspiration often emerges from a personal experience or emotion which she expands into universal human concerns such as life, death and relationships. She has redefined the concept of memory and consciousness by collecting ordinary objects such as shoes, keys, beds, chairs and dresses, and engulfing them in immense thread structures.
She explores this sensation of a ‘presence in the absence’ with her installations, but also presents intangible emotions in her sculptures, drawings, performance videos, photographs and canvases.
