This week we tried overlanding in Japan! A different form of van life – or is it camping?! Either way, it’s been an adventurous dream of ours for a while now and we thought- what better country do experience it in other than Japan!

This powerful 4×4 could take us around any area of Japan with ease – so of course, we chose the mountains! Steeps hills and terrain, this was nothing for this Land rover defender 90.

Join us as we adventure into the Japanese alps and camp in this mega fully-fitted expedition wagon with a roof tent for the week experiencing outdoor cooking, outdoor showering, wild camping / nature park ups and we’ll also give you a full tour of the set up!

‘Open dreams, open spaces… an open life. That’s over landing. A completely self-sufficient adventure, taking you to wherever your heart desires..’

  1. LOve the Overlander! And that rain cover that swings around, wow!!! Another great one kids xx

  2. Love this channel, you two are so funny. Thanks for sharing and as always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy

  3. You guys are a blast to watch; very good natured through the highs and lows of off-season travel. Always weird closing times and abandoned places. Also, I know you're watching out for bears, but monkeys can honestly be pretty scary too. I was attacked by a monkey at the Jerusalem Zoo once and I went to tell the story on a tour bus as "can you believe it?" kind of comment and half the people on the bus had their own personal story of a monkey attack. The more intelligent an animal, the more unpredictable their behavior will be. 😅

  4. That 4WD Camper is SO well equipped & well thought out! You both make everything such fun!! 💜💙🤗🇦🇺🍻

  5. When we got the outside view of the tent I was just waiting for one of the monkeys to take off with the camera!!

  6. Thank you so much!I really needed cheering up and you made me laugh out loud several times.Japan looks to be a beautiful country.x

  8. You guys absolutely give travel inspirations! My list gets bigger and bigger with your videos! ❤❤❤❤ btw I tought you would introduce an ad for van security after having taken the veg up to the tent 😂😂😂😂 would have been a fun transition!

  9. Elayna & Riley: Really enjoyed your video this week. Thank you for always producing interesting and unique film regarding your adventurous travels. Lenny and Darwin are growing up to be adorable "little men". Keep up the great work!

  10. I mean G-B car in right driving wheel regulation not so bad, but why not a Toyota FJ Cruiser or the biggest (greatest) Nippon 日本 car.

  11. Do the gouvernement allowed you to take some Savary for wildness prey, spray, noise maker, batons, etc?

  12. Had me laughing the entire video, not to mention stunning scenery. I think this Japan series might me my favourite series you’ve filmed so far! Really feel like I’m experiencing Japan through your travels and hope I make it there one day

  13. Entertaining & fun video! YES to apple in salad…try my fav: Coleslaw, Craisins, diced apple with Kraft creamy poppy salad Drsg. Enjoy! ❤️🇨🇦

  15. Stunning, all those seasons… lovely animals…I had no idea how diverse Japan is. Great video, made me laugh to, need that right now… x

  16. Just discovered you two love watching you with your welshness from a fellow Welsh girl loving that you raise money for mental health as I have laughed so much which is so cool as I suffer from depression and anxiety loving meditation namastex😊

  17. Hey you two,
I thought going into cold water was good for you also….. come to find out, cold water once in awhile is ok, but not all the time. It can cause death, give you a heart attack and other bad things. Like when you jump into the cold water you hold your breath, while other nerves in your body are saying breath, you can gasp, swallow water and drowned with nothing you can do as your body is too numb to move. Please be careful I never knew just how dangerous it really is.

  18. You were hilarious years ago and you just keep topping the last one with the belly laughs. You are my mental health medicine! ♥ 😂

  19. I received a spam email that said that it was from you. Something about I was picked for receiving a call ect

  20. Clearly you haven’t seen Sailing La Vagabond’s recent monkey encounter where Darwin almost got carried off into the woods and Riley is taking rabies shots! 😵‍💫

  21. The only time I've heard of a capybara is in the play The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee where it's one of the spelling words.

  22. Oh wow, what a breathtaking view! Multiple stunning views, honestly. What a traveling experience this is. As always, you edited it amazingly as well. I'd totally want to do this myself.

  23. Loved the set-up and vehicle! We have a similar thing over here in California: a 4-door Jeep with Rooftop tent and awning and back-area kitchen: love it! We used to have ground tent for years before we got current set-up and trust me: no fear of bears in new set-up… you have to sleep on the ground to really dream about bears… LOL (Although I'm more afraid of humans TBH.) The capybaras were epic! They've been on my list forever (they are from the pantanal of Brazil originally; really odd seeing them in Japan in hot springs, but as long as they are happy, I am too ❤. ) As for apples in salads… I am a fellow vegan and I confess to putting apples in salads, rice, pasta… with savory things: onions, etc. and I absolutely love eating them like this; I often add seasonal fruit to our salads and whatever it is we are eating; for me, the fruit tastes even better mixed in this way rather than eating it on its own. Hugs! xx (PS: the fox excursion was very sad… poor little things, broke my heart, and especially the morbid scene whereby they were selling their parts in the shop… that's the nature of our species… whose favourite passtime is killing animals – unless you're vegan.)
