As I continued exploring the area three hours north of Mombasa, we stopped at a local market on our way to Pirates Beach to explore the city’s outstanding street food scene. Join me and let’s close out Mombasa with a bang!

Joining me on this market street food tour are my guides from Kumbukumbu Tours and my good friend and cameraman, Tasos.

STREET MARKET #1: At the first market we visited, we saw vendors selling lots of secondhand clothing. We tried a lentil samosa with a spicy tamarind vinaigrette, a potato fritter called viazi, and a donut-like sweet called mithai. I als had a fried fish called una (mackerel), bought some Maasai-made sandals, and tried a strawberry popsicle.

STREET MARKET #2: At our second market of the day, I tried a sweet cake that’s usually called mandazi.

MOMBASA: Back in Mombasa, we headed to Damascus Shawarma for some chicken shawarma. Then, I visited a local ice cream shop for a creamy and refreshing falooda to end my time in Mombasa!

  1. You're making me reminisce them days man!, I was born & raised in Mombasa but now in Canada the places you're picking for street food are top I can tell you that, Damascus Shawarma then Azad for the Falooda was my pattern, then there's a place called "Karama mbuzi" that guy's known for his famous barbecue beef skewers

  2. David. Just off your live with that amazing hot sauce , food and the bottle chugging which I disagreed with. Hope your ok. Watching and enjoying this now. Street food is always affordable and delicious. Those street cakes are calling me. The sandwich and ice cream is calling me. Amazing day. Thanks so much. See you next video.

  3. Haha 6 dollars for sandal.. it's more cheaper than that your guide was coning you.. 300sh is 2.1 dollars..

  4. The market scene looks like Spanish town market in St Catherine, Jamaica. David you should visit Jamaica 🇯🇲 you will see alot of similarity with the Jamaicans as you saw in Kenya and Ghana in the way they do things.

  5. @DAVID! Please be honest, how many days of diarrhea did you suffered after eating these street foods?
    Ofc he won’t admit it.

  10. I keep hearing David saying Mambo, is that another way to say hello? Even my parents who speak Swahili have not heard anyone use the word Mambo. Only usually say Jambo. Can anyone confirm if Mambo is an actual saying?

  11. Well hello Blondie/Mozunga. Another nice one. The foods looked delicious: the lentil samosas , the fried fish, cake and the ice cream. Remember eating mithai/kurma in Trinidad, only difference is that Trinidad mithai is crispy. I love how the lady laughed when you were having trouble frying the fish. It's nice to see you getting involved with what they are doing. Sandals looked good too. Sam and Obed and the other guides are doing a really great job. So on we go to the next one.

  12. David is one humble respectful funny fun dude he know how to make people of different nationalities happy…One great YouTuber.
