How to find the ‘Real Japan’ – 2023

In this video, we’ll show you how to find the closest thing to ‘Real Japan’ in Hiroshima. We’ll spend 48 hours in Hiroshima and show you how to get here as well as how to visit locations such as Miyajima Island and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Itsukushima Shrine. We’ll take you to the Hiroshima Castle, perfectly manicured and famous Japanese Gardens, and finally, we’ll visit Ground Zero for one of the worst tragedies in human history; Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Museum, and Atomic Bomb Dome.

Hiroshima was originally founded in 1589 as a castle town on the Ota River Delta. The neighboring Miyajima island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and well known for Itsukushima Shrine ( Miyajima shrine ) – the ‘floating torii gate’ that stand majestically off the coast of Miyajima and reaches a height of more than fifty feet above the water.

We’ll take you into hidden back alleys, where you’ll find the best food and what every visitor to Japan is looking for… the ‘Real Japan’

Unfortunately, Hiroshima is also famous for the much darker history of being ground zero for the first atomic bomb ever dropped, where it’s estimated that roughly 70,000 Japanese civilians were killed as a result of the A-Bomb. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, museum, and atomic bomb dome are all located within central Hiroshima and the immediate blast zone of the bomb.
